“How can a patient feel positive and strong when their personal self-image has been rocked to the core by baldness? Giving women back their hair - hair that looks natural, attractive and feminine gives them back a little of their confidence to face the world again. For many of the women I have seen, it’s the missing link in their treatment
Trevor Sorbie, MBE, Founder “My New Hair”
Anyone who has experienced medical hair loss will understand the psychological impact on their self-esteem can be huge. It can have a knock on effect on recovery and also impact on those who are supporting them.
After helping a family member during cancer treatment, renowned UK hairdresser Trevor Sorbie launched his not-for-profit organisation “My New Hair” in June 2006. The initiative has now received charitable status.
Inspired by Trevor’s vision our senior team attended Trevor’s specialist training seminars we offer the unique service of tailoring wigs at both the Stockton and Hartlepool salons. Click here

About My New Hair
mynewhair is the pioneering new charity founded by and inspired by Trevor Sorbie MBE.
We provide public advice and support a national network of independent salons and professionals who provide a wig styling service for people suffering from cancer and medical hair loss.
Importantly, each of these professionals have approached us personally. They pledge their commitment to responsible training and provide a caring and sensitive service for their clients.
We have produced a booklet of advice and information on what happens when you lose your hair, choosing a wig, having your wig styled to suit you and aftercare/ hair re-growth in conjunction with the Department of Health and Institute of Trichologists. We call it our Patient Information Resource - click here to download it now.
We provide training seminars for hair professionals, following completion of which these professionals become part of our salon network - Salons that Care. We have trained hundreds of hair professionals around the country to provide a wig cutting and advice service to those suffering from medical hair loss.
